Carpal Tunnel

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome can impact the function of your wrist and hand. It’s caused by constriction of the nerve that travels from the forearm to the hand within the narrow carpal tunnel in the wrist. This compression can result in symptoms such as tingling, numbness, and pain in the affected hand and wrist. Motions such as typing or using tools repeatedly for extended periods of time are commonly known to contribute to the development of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. If left untreated, carpal tunnel syndrome could lead to weakness, lack of coordination and permanent nerve damage.

Ganglion Cysts

Ganglion Cysts are benign growths that develop on the tendons or joints of the wrist, hand or fingers. They are filled with a fluid substance and can cause pain and discomfort. While not particularly dangerous, living with them can be extremely agonizing. Ganglion cysts can also interfere with joint movement and cause weakness or numbness in the affected area. Some people choose to leave them alone and allow them to disappear on their own; many find the cysts reappear if untreated.

Trigger Finger

Trigger Finger affects the tendons in the hand and fingers. It occurs when the tendons become inflamed and create a sensation of “locking” or “catching” when attempting to straighten the affected finger or thumb. The condition can cause pain and discomfort and limit the ability to use the hand effectively. A trigger finger is usually more irritating than a severe medical issue. However, if left untreated, the affected finger may permanently become stuck in a bent position. Besides being embarrassing, it makes carrying out typical tasks more difficult.
